Women’s Empowerment Units were also established in all universities and formations linked to the ministry according to Ministerial Order No. 479 on 6\/7\/2021. The UN Security Council Resolution (1325) includes four main pillars that can contribute to reducing the violations faced by women: prevention, protection, participation, and peacebuilding and recovery. It emphasizes the importance of increasing women’s representation at all levels of decision-making in national, regional, and international institutions and the necessity of taking special measures to protect women and girls from gender-based violence in conflict situations, especially rape and other forms.Important dates have been set in this regard, including International Women’s Day on March 8. The history of International Women’s Day dates back to 1856 when thousands of women protested in New York against the inhumane working conditions they were living in. This demonstration, which was repeated later, marked the beginning of women gaining more rights and the designation of March 8 each year to celebrate their achievements and express appreciation and respect for them. Additionally, there is the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence campaign, which is an international campaign to combat violence against women and girls. The campaign takes place every year from November 25, the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women, to December 10, Human Rights Day.In Iraq, the International Telecommunication Union established the International Day of Girls in ICT, which is celebrated worldwide on April 28 each year in more than 150 countries. This day recognizes the role of girls and women and encourages them to pursue their studies and careers in technology by training them in areas such as coding systems and mobile application development.
In Iraq, the International Telecommunication Union established the International Day of Girls in ICT, which is celebrated worldwide on April 28 each year in more than 150 countries.
